Nick Hawkins will be leading at least one tour this year from February 8-17. There are two spots open. If you join this tour, the prices drops to $2450 USD per person. Here is my now annual end of summer update on the birding and nature tours developed by Nick Hawkins, our renowned NB naturalist, nature photographer and writer, and Juan Carlos Cruz of the Tambor Tropical Hotel in Costa Rica.
2017 marked the fourth year of our tours based out of the luxurious 12 suite Tambor Tropical beachfront hotel on the Nicoya Peninsula and another first class hotel in Monteverde cloud forest of Costa Rica. To date some 36 people have taken part including two sold out tours in 2017. Feedback remains very positive and we have recently fine-tuned the tours based on that feedback.
For the coming season, three tour dates are on the calendar: January 25-February 3 (with one NB couple already on board), February 8 to 17 and February 22-March 3. Details can be found on the updated Tambor Tropical website at http://tambortropical.com/birding-tours/. Please have a look around and be sure to ask me for any additional information.
If you are intrigued about the possibility of going this season, there are a couple of compelling reasons to help you decide. Firstly, the Canadian dollar has gained strength compared to the past two seasons. Secondly, I just got a note from Air Canada stating they are offering return trips from Maritimes for approximately $624 (plus $80 for your seat selection!), a very good fare based on past experience. Once you arrive in San Jose, all your other costs are included in the $2,900 USD tour price (excepting alcoholic beverages, non mealtime drinks and snacks, tips and items of a personal nature).
Many previous participants volunteered their names as references. Let me know if you would like to communicate with one or more of them and I will pass on their contact details.
Carolyn and I are now planning our return for the fifth year in a row. We so thoroughly enjoy the hotel and the people and, of course, the incredible birding and nature viewing of the dry lowland Pacific forests and in the cloud forests of Monteverde.
Please feel free to contact me at any time for additional information. Hank Scarth – 506-647-7511. Alternatively, you can contact Juan Carlos Cruz, the director general of the Tambor Tropical at 011-506-2683-0011 or firstname.lastname@example.org. As well, just let me know if you would like me to take your name off this distribution list.
