Hank, I have owned and used both the original IS 300mm (like your's) and the newer MkII version and I'd say that the picture quality of this original lens is the best of the two.
Also, like you, many of my published photos were taken using the 300mm. It's long been my "walking around" lens.
The newer, MkII version is a little lighter and the already good weather sealing is improved but the price of the MkII is several $K more expensive.
At your asking price it's a good deal on a great lens.
Is this lens compatible with EOS Rebel T2i ?
