This little bird arrived today and I think I saw it near a male purple finch.  So, I think this is a female purple finch?  Or maybe a pine siskin?  The little bit of yellow near the eyes is making me doubt my guess.  Please help!

Purple Finch. Viewing your images I see a bill that doesn't belong to a Pine Siskin.

I missed your specific query as to female bird. Purple Finch take two years to mature. This means a young male will resemble a female until it reaches maturity. My personal best rule of thumb is that a Purple Finch that resembles a female bursts into full song, it's an immature male.

Thank you for your reply!
