I've been trying to identify this bird for a couple weeks now with no luck. This pair was spotted at the Sackville Waterfowl Park at the end of the May. I thought it might be a chipping sparrow, but the head doesn't quite look the same. Any ideas?

The lighting makes this challenging, but I would give Song Sparrow as my first choice. Let's see what others say.

I'll ditto Denis's response. Looks like it just enjoyed a good bath.

Many thanks! Song sparrow makes more sense than a chipping sparrow.

I was thinking maybe Swamp Sparrow.

That thought crossed my mind, at first when looking at the head and face, Eric, but the bird in question had far too much coarse streaking to suggest Swamp Sparrow.
