"If you do feel that it is a masked chafer you might want to collect one and have it IDed.  Cyclocephala sp. beetles are not recorded to be in N.B.  The "mask" refers to a darkened area between the eyes."

Joanne Savage replied to Paul & Kitty Martin's discussion Is this an immature Grackle or a Brewers Blackbird?
"Think I responded too quickly and put the wrong bird down as belonging to that bill... hatch year European Starling. I happen to have both HY Grackle and Starling at the moment."

Joanne Savage replied to Paul & Kitty Martin's discussion Is this an immature Grackle or a Brewers Blackbird?
"Yes, and perhaps I was too quick to id  Paul and Kitty's as Grackle when the better answer was European Starling."

I haven't seen a Chipping Sparrow yet this year...lots of America Tree though.

I had some Evening Grosbeaks in my yard today for the first time in a couple of years....they must have followed me from your place! lol. But seriously, I believe I've seen more of them in the last 5 months then what I've seen over the past 5 years...maybe they're making a come back or I've just be in the right spot at the right time.
