There is a Great horned Owl nesting on one of the osprey platform nest near the exit to Cape Tourmentine, much to the chagrin of 2 circling ospreys!
My backyard Northern Mockingbird was making some noises and staring to singing on Tuesday morning.These were different noises I had heard. Up till than the bird had just made chewk and churrs calls. My first robin came to my yard yesterday. The Northern Mockingbird is still here. The House Finches are back and singing. I have a Song Sparrow in the yard singing also. Still have 5 juncos feeding. This morning I filled up the niger socks in front and back, sunflower feeders and mixed feeders. My feeders were empty. I still have quite a few Common Red Polls eating niger. Yesterday was my last day doing the Project Feeder Watch. It was a very unusual day. First thing in the morning I had a 100 plus Common Red Polls come into the yard to feed. Emptied 3 niger feeders, sunflower feeders and mixed seeds. They were all over the front and backyard. Than they took off in flight and I had a nice wave of Red Polls.
