Good day!

Today I decided to head to the small pond in New Maryland that I call "the lake". I walked up with my dog and enjoyed the cool air and then decided to explore new areas I've yet to see. The first new bird for my big year of the day was an American Bittern that my dog(Newman) flushed accidentally out of the brush. I then heard some noisy malards and watched them fly by very low! I stayed home sick today and was lucky too see 2 new birds for my #2 big year, Dark-eyed junco and Song sparrow, and a few other welcomed guests came to my feeders! A couple of purple finches, some goldfinches, chickadee's, a male Hairy Woodpecker, and most exciting, a male and female Cardinal!

Where was I before the cat rant....oh ya ...so with all the predators we had a couple of birds get it, but one we didn't see feathers of but has been missing from our feeders for about a month and a half is the male Cardinal.  The female has…
