“I rejoice that there are Owls”...

The famous American naturalist Henry David Thoreau coined this phrase well over a century ago. I sometimes wonder if he was thinking of the Short-eared Owl in particular when he said it. I definitely agree with his statement, regardless of which owl (or owls) he was thinking about. Owls are my favourite group of birds.
